Parents - Ralph & Kathy Charley

Q: How many brothers and sisters do you have?
A: Four brothers and six sisters

Q: Did your parents or grandparents attend Minot Catholic Schools? If so, who?
A: No

Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Playing, writing, and recording music; reading; writing; drawing; all forms of art; thinking

Q: What is your best memory of school so far?
A: Attending State Student Council in Bismarck during my sophomore year

Q: If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
A: The hypocrisy, stupidity, conformity, and indifference of society. Also, Paris Hilton would no longer exist.

Q: If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?
A: I would invest it for five years and allow it to grow, then give about half of it to an organization such as National Right to Life or To Write Love on Her Arms. I would spend the other half on a state-of-the-art, fully equipped recording studio. Whatever was left over I would use to buy roses and send them to nursing homes around the country.

Q: If you had one wish, what would it be?
A: I would wish for inspiration.

Q: If you could hang out with someone famous, who would it be? Why?
A: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, because he is a musical genius and some of his talent might rub off on me. I've also heard that he was insane, and insane people are fun to hang out with.

Q: What are your gifts and how do you plan to use them?
A: I am gifted in creating music, writing, thinking and analyzing, and working with developmentally disabled individuals. I hope to continue with my music and writing and hopefully make a career out of this; more importantly, I want to make an impact in the lives of individuals with special needs.

Q: What is something most people don't know about you?
A: In my spare time, I edit grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes, and occasionally submit entire entries, on Wikipedia. And I’ve never had a cavity.

Q: If you could invite any three people to Thanksgiving dinner, who would they be? Why?
A: Jesus, for obvious reasons; John Lennon, to discuss his various philosophies and musical ideas; and Peter Pan, because he’d be fun to have around. I would also enjoy seeing what they would have to say to each other.

I recently won a state-wide essay contest on the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in free enterprise. I had the opportunity to go on an all-expenses-paid trip to Philadelphia for a Freedoms Foundation conference with about one hundred other students from various states. We toured Valley Forge and Philadelphia, held a mock appellate trial, debated and “amended” various Constitutional bills, and discussed national issues such as illegal immigration and the PATRIOT Act against terrorism.
